چکیده

In the sessions devoted to quantum electrodynamics it has become clear that the theory of the electron and its electromagnetic interaction is at the moment in good shape, in the sense that there is hardly any direct experimental indication for the need of improvement, let alone for the direction in which modification of the theory should be sought for. It is true that the divergent character of the formalism leads many of us to believe that the last word in quantum electrodynamics has by no means yet been spoken, but there is at the present no conflict between theory and experiment which stimulates attempts to add to the body of our understanding. It is quite a different story in mesodynamics. With certainty we know that there are charged and neutral x-mesons, that these are pseudoscalar and that they are strongly coupled to nucleons. We have also increasing evidence to the effect that this interaction is charge independent, a feature which will presently be discussed in more detail. But no solutions to the coupled nucleon n-meson equations having a well defined range of validity are known to us. And in fact we may have doubts whether these equations themselves are at all worth solving beyond the most trivial stages. As you see, I am raising two points. First, there is one of method: how to define and obtain approximations in the case of large coupling constants. I shall not discuss this problem here but rather make some comments on the second question: to what extent may the conventional set of equations describing coupled nucleons, n-mesons and photons be considered as a reasonable basis for mesodynamics ? To begin with I list a number of questions in meson physics that seem of outstanding interest. Thereupon a program will be outlined aiming at answering those questions from a more unified point of

The Thermodynamic Properties of Polarized Metallic Nanowire in the Presence of Magnetic Field

In this article, the second quantization method has been used to investigate some thermodynamic properties of spin-polarized metallic nanowire in the presence of magnetic field at zero temperature. We have been observed that in different magnetic field, the equilibrium energy of system increases as the density increases. The spin-polarization parameter corresponding to the equilibrium state of ...

Quantization of Fermionic Fields with Two Mass States in the First Order Formalism

The relativistic 20-component wave equation, describing particles with spin 1/2 and two mass states, is analyzed. The projection operators extracting states with definite energy and spin projections, and density matrix are obtained. The canonical quantization of the field with two mass states in the formalism of the first order is performed and the chronological pairing of the 20-component oper...

THE MASS OF THE ELECTRON IN GaAs/AlGaAs BY SHUBNIKOV-DE HAAS EFFECT AND THE SPIN-CHARGE LOCKING

The energy of the free electron gas is calculated in three dimensions. In this calculation an integral over the wave vector space occurs which was solved by Dingle. In the low temperature approximation the integral over the Fermi distribution leads to x/sinh x type expression, called the Dingle’s formula. The spin symmetry is found to modify this formula which determines the oscillation amplitu...

0 v 1 3 1 M ar 1 99 7 HERA high Q 2 events as indications of excited leptons with weak isotopic spin 3 / 2

The H1 and ZEUS anomalous events are interpreted as being due to the production and the decay of excited leptons E, which correspond to spin 1/2 resonances of the first generation lepton doublet (ν e , e) with W triplet. This assumption is supported by considering of Bethe-Salpeter equation in the ladder approximation with anomalous triple gauge boson vertex. The solution with weak isospin I = ...

HELICITY AND PLANAR AMPLITUDES IN PION-PROTON SCATTERING AT 6.0 GeV/c

In addition to optimal conditions, invariant laws of Lorentz, parity and time reversal are imposed to find the relation between observables (spin rotation parameters) and bilinear combination of helicity amplitudes in pion-proton elastic scattering at 6.0 GeV/c. By normalizing the differential cross-section to unity, the magnitudes of helicity amplitudes and the angle between them are dete...

Quantization of Non-critical Bosonic Open String Theory

The theory of relativistic strings is considered in frames of Hamiltonian formalism and Dirac’s quantization procedure. A special gauge fixing condition is formulated, related with the world sheet of the string in Lorentz-invariant way. As a result, a new set of Lorentz-invariant canonical variables is constructed, in which a consistent quantization of bosonic open string theory could be done i...
